Danielle Lyn is an alumna of Florida International University in Miami, Florida, U.S.A. with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a minor in Global Media. She graduated in May of 2017 with academic honors, as a lifetime member of Lambda Pi Eta, the Communications National Honor Society, a lifetime member of Omicron Delta Kappa, a national leadership honor society, and as a recpient of FIU’s Excellence in Global Learning Medallion.
At 14 years old she began working with Generation Nexxt Youth Sports Network, a local sports media outlet with web and TV properties. Since then she’s interned with The Miami Dolphins broadcast department, WFOR-CBS4 in Miami, The Miami HEAT broadcast department(Inside the HEAT), and worked as a sideline reporter for Inside the Orange Bowl on Fox Sports.
Lyn most recently completed a season as an anchor for the program Inside The Orange Bowl. Now, she plans to shift gears and focus on journalism in Global News with interest in World Affairs, International (Middle East) Relations and Humanitarian Crises.
The switch from sports to world affairs is a result of Lyn’s firm belief that people should be ‘global citizens’, in that they commit to furthering their knowledge of what’s happening within the world beyond their own region. Lyn’s career goals include working for the BBC and bringing an unconventional style of storytelling to the global news market and academic goals include earning a J.D-MBA and later a LLM in International Human Rights Law as well as a Masters degree in Global Media Studies with a focus on the dissemination of news media.
Lyn works with AIESEC, an international nonprofit organization, in Miami to promote leadership and cultural understanding in the world’s youth through exchange programs.
Outside of work, Lyn is passionate about travel and humanitarian work. You can find her studying new languages (Currently Dutch and Egyptian Arabic), watching Formula One Racing, or planning her next trip to somewhere she’s never been!
